Ways You Can Help
Local Efforts
Business Champions for Kids đź”—
Led by Douglas County business leaders, Business Champions for Kids encourages and recognizes local employers who adopt family friendly practices that benefit families with young children, and the organization’s bottom line. All employers are encouraged to take a workplace assessment called “The Best Place for Working Parents®” to see how they measure up with organizations of similar size and industry. Businesses that support early childhood in the County are recognized as “Biz4Kids Advocates”.
Douglas County Childcare Coalition đź”—
The lack of childcare in Douglas County reached a critical level during the COVID-19 pandemic prompting a group of employers to approach Business Champions for Kids and Care Connections & Education for solutions. This resulted in a group of committed employers, early learning professionals, education and workforce partners, government officials, funders, faith based representatives and community members to form the Douglas County Childcare Coalition. The mission of the Coalition is to increase the quantity, quality, and accessibility of local childcare with a bold goal of increasing Douglas County childcare capacity 30% by 2024.
